We came. We saw. We "raced." We had a blast!

On October 22, 2005, St. James Church had its first "Race for the Cure" team. Susan Hesson was our very enthusiastic team captain, and the other participants from St. James were Melanie Boettner, Emma Hesson, Anna and Jake Inman, Jennifer McConnell, and Melanie and Charlotte Smith. Joining the team from the Department of English at The University of Memphis were Dr. Lori Cohoon and Dr. Amy Eichhorn-Mulligan.

We didn't win, but we didn't come in last, either. We were just thankful to finish the race safely! Most important, we had a wonderful time of wholesome fellowship on a beautiful October morning. As we walked, we reminisced about the women in our lives who have battled cancer, and we lifted up prayers before and after the race for them and their families. We are already planning for next year's race!
